Qualification for REALTOR® Esteem
In complete compliance with the current Bylaws of the National Association of REALTORS®, the California Association of REALTORS® and the Victor Valley Association of REALTORS®, REALTOR® Esteem may be granted by the Board of Directors when individual REALTOR® has been an active member in good standing of the Victor Valley Association of REALTORS® for 20 continuous years and has reached the age of 65.
VVAR Esteem Members are required to pay only such dues as are necessary to enable the VVAR to meet its dues obligations in connection with such membership in the N.A.R. and C.A.R Local dues are waived.

In February, a real estate agent in Ottumwa, Iowa, was assaulted and tied up when she arrived at a home for a scheduled showing appointment. Her attackers robbed the home, according to news reports. Two months later, some 90 miles away in West Des Moines, 27-year-old Ashley Okland was fatally shot in the head and chest while working at a model home. The crime remains unsolved.

Industry Update: Fannie Mae electronic lockbox requirement
Fannie Mae has informed its listing brokers and Asset Management Providers (AMPs) that, effective July 1, 2011, “an electronic lockbox must be used if available in [the] area.”
Fannie Mae instructs that the electronic lockbox should be placed in a primary location such as the front door to market a property.
Fannie Mae appraisers, contractors, inspectors and employees will access the property using a mechanical combination lockbox that is placed in a secondary location such as a back or side door. However, Fannie Mae specifically informs its brokers and AMPs that buyer’s agents and buyer’s lenders are not permitted to use the mechanical combination lockbox.
Fannie Mae’s action should increase the use of electronic lockboxes and discourage code sharing. For more information, please refer to Fannie Mae’s FAQs, located here.

Social and Professional Networking
The 4th Wednesday of every month there is a “General Membership Meeting” held at the association office with a continental breakfast provided. The breakfast is a benefit of membership to REALTOR® and Affiliate Members. e will have informative and interesting speaker. In addition to a continental breakfast and great speakers, REALTORS® can interact with other real estate professionals. Our Special Affairs Committee will be having a 'bake sale' after every general membership meeting, all proceeds will go to our local charities.
Political Involvement at Local Level
The REALTOR® organization is there in front of the local city councils, county Board of Supervisors and legislators in Sacramento and Washington DC fighting ordinances and other laws that adversely impact the real estate industry and REALTORS® ability to conduct their business. In 2005 we added a Government Affairs Director, Mr. Chip Ahlswede, to guide and assist us with the needs of our growing community. We urge our members to get involved by attending the VVAR Government Relations Committee Meeting.
